Happy Friday! It's been a busy week for both me and Ekta, but we're so excited it's finally Friday.

Here's our weekly round-up of the good (and bad) from this week!

Sidra

1. I went hiking this week!

Two years ago Ekta planned a trip for our grad school crew to go to Vermont and we went on my first ever hike! Ever since then, I've been hooked on hiking but it can be hard to find time to get out of the city and find a great hike. I've been taking advantage of the increased accessibility of nature here in Wisconsin, and went on this hike and found this baby waterfall.

2. Wisconsin was removed from the Chicago Covid-19 Travel Restriction

A few weeks ago Wisconsin was included in the Chicago Covid-19 travel restriction, which made visits to see my sister and her family nearly impossible. The good news is, Wisconsin case numbers are down and we can visit finally see each other again.

3. The DNC was this week

While I didn't watch as much of the DNC as I used to, it was a great convention even with all the challenges created by Covid. With only a few months left until the election, now's a great time to volunteer for a campaign! I even have a virtual volunteer shift for next weekend!

4. Painting

My parents are painting the house, which means I get to get my HGTV on. Right now they're working on the outside, but I'm living in a world of paint chips to create a vision for each room.

5. The Chicago Blackhawks were eliminated from the playoffs :(

Being the Sconnie that I am, hockey is by far my favorite sport (despite how hard the NHL makes it to be a fan sometimes). There's valid criticism of if sports should be played right now, but it's admittedly been a welcome distraction from the rest of life these days. Unfortunately, the 'Hawks were eliminated from the bubble playoffs this week, but it was a fun ride while it lasted.

Ekta

1. Our local HEB now has all of the central market sodas!

I love Central Market - it's the ideal place for lunch, dinner or a snack. It's like the texan answer to Wegmans. They have amazing soda and I swiped as many as I could because they were on sale. I'm so excited to try these flavors :)

2. I finally fixed my polaroid camera

I feel like I never really appreciated my polaroid camera until I went on a trip to Argentina. It was so nice to just look back at a handful of ok shots and remember the amazing memories compared to shifting through thousands of beautiful iphone pictures. After my trip the camera's light settings weren't working properly. But after switching the batteries, adding a new film pack, and thumping it a few times - we're back in business!

3. We finished staining and decorating the patio

Oh man - isn't she beautiful! I can't wait for Texes to cool down a little next month so we can spend even more time outside. I definitely felt a little bit like Michelangelo painting as I was teetering on our ladder to get the stain into every crevice of the pergola. I think our next project might be a little custom sofa that fits in the back or painting our the border so it matches the stone work.

4. And for the bad news... I tripped, fell on to my desk, pushed my laptop of the desk.

I'm a massive klutz and I've broken my laptop like this twice. But this time it wasn't my fault... well only a little bit my fault lol The good news is that I'm going to send it with Nishant's dad so he can get it fixed in India for $50 instead of the usual $500

5. There's a weird crack in my bathroom floor?!

I have no idea how this could have happened but there's a crack running across three of the tiles. It makes a pretty funny sound when I walk on it lol. But I'm excited because now I'll get to learn how to do some tiling work and maybe I'll even get to replace the floors!
