That's right, another air fryer recipe! After last week's air fryer experiment we decided to see what else the air fryer could do and since Ekta's a vegetarian, and I am a quasi-vegetarian 75% of the time, finding new ways to make tofu is always exciting.

The Review

Ekta: I really enjoyed it! I added fresh garlic to the garlic powder for some more oomph. I also cut the honey in half and used some agave syrup I had left over. I would give this a 8/10 because I like my tofu a little crispier. I think it goes well with any spicy noodle or stir fry.

Sidra: I'm never making tofu without an air fryer ever again. The air fryer made the tofu nice and crispy without all of the effort (and oil) associated with pan frying. I thought the honey really overpowered the other flavors in the sauce, but I had the tofu with with noodles which helped balance the honey a little bit. Overall, this is a 6/10 for me.

Ingredients:

Tofu:

14 ounces extra firm tofu

1 tbsp corn starch

1 tsp garlic powder

1/2 tsp paprika

1/2 tsp onion powder

1/2 tsp salt

cooking spray

Honey Garlic Sauce:

1 + 1/3 tbsp cornstarch

1/2 cup soy sauce

1/4 cup honey

2 tsp minced garlic

The Recipe:

Press the Tofu:

Lay the tofu on top of a clean dishtowel and press to remove the excee moisture. (I find that putting the tofu between two baking sheets and putting something heavy on top works really well). Cut the tofu into 1 in pieces

Marinate the Tofu:

Place the tofu squares in a bowl and add toss with the cornstarch, garlic powder, paprika, onion powder, and salt until the tofu is completely coated.

Fry the Tofu:

Spray the basket of the air fryer and add the tofu in a single layer. The spray the tops of the tofu. Set the air fryer at 360F for 18 minutes. Shake the basket after 10 minutes and return to air fryer for the final 8 minutes.

Honey Garlic Sauce:

Mix the cornstarch and soy sauce until the cornstarch completely dissolves. Add the honey and garlic, mix until combined. Heat on the stove for a few minutes while the sauce thickens, stirring continuously.

Assemble the dish:

Place the fried tofu in a bowl with 1/2 cup of the honey garlic sauce and toss until coated. Add the tofu to rice, noodles, steamed vegetables, or a salad, and drizzle with the remaining sauce.
