Recipe #5: Smoothie Snacks

The only good thing about working at Monte (food wise) was that there were only two places to go - fake chipotle and a bodega which served everything under the sun. Every so often I'd order a smoothie or protein shake to make up for the utter lack of fruits I ate the day before. Now that we're both working remotely- we thought it would be good to share our easy peasy smoothie recipe.

Ekta

Ingredients: 1 premier protein caramel pouch, 1 banana, 1 cup of skim milk, 1 tsp of vanilla extract, optional - 1 tbs peanut butter, 4 strawberries, coco powder

Steps: Throw ingredients into a blender and mix until frothy.

Tip: This makes two servings so on the second one I add in strawberries so it taste a little different. If you add the strawberries, it will separate over time so drink it quickly (pre and post work out?)

Review: Premier protein is my favorite brand because of the low sugar, smooth chalk-less texture and availability in Costco. I do wish it was a little less thick so on days that I have time I use this recipe to get my daily banana (fiber is important!) and protein.

Sidra

Ingredients: 1 small banana, 2 handfuls of spinach, 1/2 cup frozen berries, 2 tbsp Greek yogurt, splash of skim milk (1 tbsp peanut butter optional)

Steps: Blend together until it's well combined..

Tip: I don't love the taste or smell of protein powder, so I add greek yogurt and peanut butter to add some protein to this smoothie. If you want more protein, add a scoop of your favorite protein powder! The berries will make this smoothie a pretty pink/purple color, but if you don't drink it quickly it'll start turning green/brown from the spinach and bananas. It still tastes great, but be prepared for weird looks as you drink it.
