To celebrate Halloween, Sid was inspired by this adorable recipe she saw on Pinterest.

The Review:

Ekta - These were so insanely spicy. I had to have 3 glasses of milk, chocolate, grapes, and candy before it would stop burning. The filling and the crescent rolls were awesome so I peeled them off and ate it separately. I would maybe try this again with the mini bell peppers. 2/10

Sidra - I thought these were pretty good (and my peppers were nowhere near as spicy as Ekta's), but it was a lot of effort to prep the jalapeños and wrap the dough. It would be worth it to be the person with the cute appetizers at a Halloween party, but is way too much work for a spooky snack at home. 6/10

The Recipe:

Ingredients:

  • 4 jalapeño peppers, sliced in half lengthwise and pith/ seeds removed (use rubber gloves and immediately wash the knife and cutting board when you're done so your hands don't burn from the jalapeño).

  • 8 ounces cream cheese, room temperature OR half a can of cannellini beans (cooked and smashed)

  • 1/2 cup of cheese (jack, mozzarella, cheddar, etc)

  • 1 scallion (green onion), finely chopped

  • 1/2 teaspoon salt OR 1 tbsp taco seasoning

  • 1 package refrigerated crescent rolls (1 triangle per jalapeño)

  • 2 eggs, beaten OR omit

  • Candy eyeballs OR olives

Steps:

Preheat oven 400° F.

In a small bowl, mix the cream cheese/beans, shredded cheese, scallion and seasoning until well blended.

Roll out the crescent rolls and separate into triangles, cut each rectangle into long pieces lengthwise.

Fill each jalapeño with the cheese mixture. Wrap each jalapeño half with the dough, leaving a space for the eyes.

Optional- Brush with egg mixture and place on baking sheet

Bake in oven for 10 minutes. Remove from the oven and press the eyes/olives. Serve immediately.
